The Perfect Spring Blooms Photoshoot Location in San Ramon, California - A Couples Photography Gallery
There’s something about spring in the Bay Area that just hits.
For a few short weeks, loads of plum and cherry trees turn soft and pink, and suddenly places you’ve driven past a hundred times feel completely different. This couples session in San Ramon was exactly that — simple, beautiful, fun and full of blooming trees to compliment the couple’s sweet demeanor.
A 7am Start (and So Worth It)
I met Ngan and Atreya at 7am — which, I know, sounds a little wild at first — but trust me on this: early morning light is so worth it.
The air was still, the park was quiet, and the blossoms were glowing with light that makes everything feel calm and dreamy. I’d driven past the park a week prior on a Saturday mid day and it was so packed, and honestly I didn’t want to have a couples photoshoot with a bunch of other peoploe if it could be avoided. Hence… 7am on a Friday haha.
And can we just take a moment for this couple driving all the way from San Francisco for the session?? I will never not be grateful when people go out of their way so far to work with me. It means so much.
Two Locations, All the Pink Tones
One of my favorite things about this spot is the variety you can get without needing to go far.
We spent the first half of the session at Rancho San Ramon Community Park, surrounded by plum blossoms — warm, deep, dark pinks, almost red and orange in spots, especially due to the morning light.
Then we crossed the street (literally) and stepped into a completely different scene with cherry blossoms in full bloom. These were brighter, fuller, and gave us those classic springtime pink tones.
Having both locations in one session meant their final gallery had so much variety — different textures, different shades of pink, and a really nice flow from start to finish.
Bring Your Dog. Always.
Ngan and Atreya brought their adorable poodle mix along, and I loved it! One thing I do check to make sure for coupes shoots with dogs is will their dog be ok for some off leash photos and will the dog be okay if tied up temporarily on the side.
Including your dog in a couples photoshoot adds so much personality. It’s a little unpredictable, a little chaotic at times, but in the best way. You get real laughs, real interactions, and photos that actually feel like your life together.
Plus, let’s be honest — dogs make everything better.
A Small (but Important) PSA
Quick note for future sessions:
Check your clothes for stains before you show up. 😂
We had a small coffee stain situation that I ended up hand-editing out later. Not the end of the world, but definitely avoidable. Consider this your gentle reminder from your photographer who will fix it, but would love not to have to haha.
Why I Love Sessions Like This
This shoot didn’t need anything complicated. Just good light, beautiful surroundings, and a couple willing to wake up early and trust the process.
That’s really all it takes.
And getting to document couples in this season of life — whether it’s just because, an engagement, or something in between — is something I don’t take lightly.
